How To Turn Your Cityville City Into A Goods Producing Capital

Once you reach level 50 and above in Cityville, you will no doubt of unlocked most buildings, housing and decorations, and will of probably completed most of the job mission requests giving to you, so you may be wondering what to do next with your city.

Well there are a few ways to go about playing Cityville and one of them is to turn your city into a goods producing capital. Producing tonnes and tonnes of goods and shipping them out to your neighbours to earn loads of gold coins for your cities bank balance.

How you do this is very simple, you start off by building a crop farming business by adding lots of storage buildings within the city, it is best to use either the barn or the sticks as your storage buildings for this process. Try to make sure you have a storage capacity of at least 3000 and above, so you can gather all your crops in one go.

Then you simply place loads of farming squares and plant pea crops up to the limit of your storage capacity which produce 155 goods every 3 days, and then its a case of waiting 3 days for the crops to ripen and become ready for harvesting.

While waiting for your crops to be ready for harvesting, it is also a good idea to build yourself quite a few piers by the coast to help bring in even more goods for selling to your neighbours. Simply place a pier and add 5 cargo ships around each of the piers, and then send them out to Rome Relics to collect 194 goods which usually takes 3 days. Incidentally placing piers adds 420 storage to your city’s overall storage capacity, so is a great building to construct within your city.

Once your pea crops are ready for harvesting and your cargo ships have returned and are ready to be unloaded, make sure you have enough energy and then start harvesting each crop and unloading every cargo ship and watch your overall citys storage counter fill with goods.

When you have harvested every pea crop and emptied every cargo ship, simply mouse click on the train station and then mouse click the sell goods tab, and sell your surplus goods to Charlieville which will earn you 600 gold coins for every 300 goods you sell. Make sure you don’t neglect the businesses within your own city and leave an adequate supply of goods to resupply every one of your businesses at least once.

Using this method every three days will bring in a good amount of gold coins, xp points and special items, so you can finally have enough gold coins to purchase those much sort after high rise and landmark buildings.

University of Wales to close down after 120 years

Saturday, October 22, 2011

120 years after it was founded, the University of Wales (UoW) will shut down. Already comprised of several institutions, two will merge fully while two more will become independent universities.

With a charter from 1893 and the Prince of Wales as its chancellor, problems began at UoW last year after concerns the head of a Malaysian partner institution, a local pop artist, had non-legitimate qualifications. This was followed by Thailand’s authorities denouncing another UoW partner as illegal, then an investigation in the UK into all the UoW’s foreign ties.

The Quality Assurance Agency said UoW’s overseas checks on foreign institutions were inadequate. The UK Border Agency is investigating a possible visa scam whereby foreign students were sold exam answers for a qualification leading to UoW entry and British visas. Two colleges — Rayat London College and Lampton College — are suspended over the claims.

Trinity St David and Swansea Metropolitan universities are to merge, forming University of Wales: Trinity St David. It is to use the latter’s own royal charter, which is itself 190 years old. Newport and Glyndwr are set to become universities in their own right. The dissolution follows calls from the leaders of rival universities for the end of UoW.

“I warmly welcome the historic decision taken today by the University of Wales Council,” said UoW Vice-Chancellor Professor Medwin Hughes, who will fill the same role for the new University of Wales: Trinity St David. “The transformed University will serve and deliver for Wales.” His counterpart for Newport, Dr Peter Noyes, said “The inevitable end to the story of the University of Wales should not detract from a distinguished history lasting 12 decades. Wales should be sad that this day has come[.]” UoW chairmain Hugh Thomas has resigned.

The Prince of Wales is among past students, having spent a 1969 term there. The institution’s various member organisations at one point included the now-separate Cardiff University.

Wikinews interviews former New Mexico governor Gary Johnson, presidential nominee of the Libertarian Party

Monday, November 5, 2012

With the U.S. presidential election looming, former New Mexico governor and current Libertarian Party presidential nominee Gary Johnson spoke with Wikinews reporter William S. Saturn on an assortment of economic, foreign, and social issues. In the interview, Johnson makes his final plea to voters before they cast their ballots on Election Day, November 6.

Though a member of the Libertarian Party in the early 1990s, Johnson was elected and re-elected governor of New Mexico in 1994 and 1998 as a Republican. During his governorship, he vetoed over 750 bills, more than all other then-governors combined, and left the state with a $1 billion budget surplus. He briefly ran for president as a Republican in 2011 before rejoining the Libertarian Party to seek its 2012 presidential nomination.

After winning the nomination this past May, Johnson has campaigned throughout the nation espousing the Fair Tax, spending cuts across the board, a repeal of Obamacare, an audit of the Federal Reserve, a non-interventionist foreign policy, an end to the Drug War, and legalization of same-sex marriage. He and his running mate, Judge Jim Gray of California, have attained ballot access in all U.S. states except Michigan, where he is a write-in candidate, and Oklahoma. Nationally, he has received four percent registered-voter support in the past two CNN/Opinion Research Polls that included him with President Barack Obama, Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney and Green Party nominee Jill Stein. It is the campaign’s goal to reach five percent on Election Day, which will enable the party to receive ballot access and federal funding on par with the two major parties.

With Wikinews, Johnson discusses the federal budget, education, entitlements, the Syrian uprising, Mexican Drug War, same-sex marriage, the Libertarian Party, and his political future.

Work Your Way Out Of Second Mortgage Short Sale

Filed under: Loan Agreements — Admin @ 3:11 pm, .

By Sean A. Kelly

Often people who have a second mortgage wonder if short sale is possible, because to deal with one mortgage is very challenging when finances are bleak. Throw in another mortgage, as if working one lender was not difficult enough, and to deal with a second mortgage short sale can magnify the frustration times two fold. Short sale is basically when the amount expected from the sale of the home is less than the balance owed on the mortgage and the mortgage lender is willing to accept the payoff. For the most part, the transaction can be a win-win situation. It helps struggling underwater borrowers avoid foreclosure on one hand, and on the other hand, the lenders loss are also minimized because the property is not a foreclosure. It gets complicated with second mortgage short sale as you need co-operation from both the first and the second lender.

Before we get in to the details about short sale, let us first remember that when you sell your house, the loans go with the house. So if they deed their house to someone else, the loans stay in place. A sale of a house does not affect the loans on that house. Short sale works because the lender agrees to release its claim on the house at the closing table. So the new buyer gets the house free from your mortgage. But if you have two mortgages, the short sale is much more complicated. You may have one lender who has agreed for short and the house will be sold and still have a second mortgage on it. The buyer of your house would want to be free of both your first and second mortgage.

Now the question is when you have two mortgages to deal with, how do you short sale?

Here are a few ways in which you can deal with your second mortgage.

Sometimes the lenders who made the first mortgage also make the second. You may ask the bank if they can allocate the short sale proceeds to release both loans. You may suggest buying out the second. The bank may show interest as they are in a position where they will get nothing if it goes into foreclosure. You can offer them a small amount assuming you have some cash. It may help, as after all, they are already prepared to be wiped out. If you are cracking a deal like this, make sure you get the arrangement in writing including how they will report to the credit bureaus as you would want to avoid foreclosure appearing in your records and also that they will not pull you in the courts for it. Finally, they should clearly mention that the amount paid is towards the full payment of the second mortgage and forever clearing the debt.

Another option is for those who don’t have the cash to buy out their second mortgage. You may suggest a deal to your second mortgage holder wherein, you would ask them to release the second mortgage in order to allow the short sale to go through and in return, you will sign a note for a percentage of that loan. Such a note is a personal loan, an unsecured loan, and would be dischargeable in bankruptcy. But if you can manage the payments, a good outcome is assured rather than tarnishing your credit report.

These options are worth considering if you want to do a short sale and avoid foreclosure with two mortgages to deal.

Former Formula 1 designer unveils new electric car

Monday, November 9, 2009

Former Formula One McLaren designer Gordon Murray has unveiled a new all-electric car.

The car model, which is known as the T.27, is due to be developed over the course of the next 16 months with four prototypes. The process that will be used during the course of the manufacturing of the vehicle is called iStream. The technology iStream had been invented by Gordon Murray in 1999 and means that all the parts are designed using a computer.

The project has approximately received £9,000,000 (US$14,919,000) in investment. The electric car is designed for urban purposes, such as in cities or towns. The weight of the vehicle is just 600 kilograms. It has the ability to travel at speeds of up to 60 miles per hour and can go for a maximum of 100 miles between recharges.

The designer thinks that motorists will some day be travelling in vehicles like this. Murray believes that the new car will be ‘the most efficient electric vehicle on earth’.

Thursday, August 16, 2007

The name Robert Cailliau may not ring a bell to the general public, but his invention is the reason why you are reading this: Dr. Cailliau together with his colleague Sir Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web, making the internet accessible so it could grow from an academic tool to a mass communication medium. Last January Dr. Cailliau retired from CERN, the European particle physics lab where the WWW emerged.

Wikinews offered the engineer a virtual beer from his native country Belgium, and conducted an e-mail interview with him (which started about three weeks ago) about the history and the future of the web and his life and work.

Wikinews: At the start of this interview, we would like to offer you a fresh pint on a terrace, but since this is an e-mail interview, we will limit ourselves to a virtual beer, which you can enjoy here.

Robert Cailliau: Yes, I myself once (at the 2nd international WWW Conference, Chicago) said that there is no such thing as a virtual beer: people will still want to sit together. Anyway, here we go.

Saturn moon Enceladus may have salty ocean

Thursday, June 23, 2011

NASA’s Cassini–Huygens spacecraft has discovered evidence for a large-scale saltwater reservoir beneath the icy crust of Saturn’s moon Enceladus. The data came from the spacecraft’s direct analysis of salt-rich ice grains close to the jets ejected from the moon. The study has been published in this week’s edition of the journal Nature.

Data from Cassini’s cosmic dust analyzer show the grains expelled from fissures, known as tiger stripes, are relatively small and usually low in salt far away from the moon. Closer to the moon’s surface, Cassini found that relatively large grains rich with sodium and potassium dominate the plumes. The salt-rich particles have an “ocean-like” composition and indicate that most, if not all, of the expelled ice and water vapor comes from the evaporation of liquid salt-water. When water freezes, the salt is squeezed out, leaving pure water ice behind.

Cassini’s ultraviolet imaging spectrograph also recently obtained complementary results that support the presence of a subsurface ocean. A team of Cassini researchers led by Candice Hansen of the Planetary Science Institute in Tucson, Arizona, measured gas shooting out of distinct jets originating in the moon’s south polar region at five to eight times the speed of sound, several times faster than previously measured. These observations of distinct jets, from a 2010 flyby, are consistent with results showing a difference in composition of ice grains close to the moon’s surface and those that made it out to the E ring, the outermost ring that gets its material primarily from Enceladean jets. If the plumes emanated from ice, they should have very little salt in them.

“There currently is no plausible way to produce a steady outflow of salt-rich grains from solid ice across all the tiger stripes other than salt water under Enceladus’s icy surface,” said Frank Postberg, a Cassini team scientist at the University of Heidelberg in Germany.

The data suggests a layer of water between the moon’s rocky core and its icy mantle, possibly as deep as about 50 miles (80 kilometers) beneath the surface. As this water washes against the rocks, it dissolves salt compounds and rises through fractures in the overlying ice to form reserves nearer the surface. If the outermost layer cracks open, the decrease in pressure from these reserves to space causes a plume to shoot out. Roughly 400 pounds (200 kilograms) of water vapor is lost every second in the plumes, with smaller amounts being lost as ice grains. The team calculates the water reserves must have large evaporating surfaces, or they would freeze easily and stop the plumes.

“We imagine that between the ice and the ice core there is an ocean of depth and this is somehow connected to the surface reservoir,” added Postberg.

The Cassini mission discovered Enceladus’ water-vapor and ice jets in 2005. In 2009, scientists working with the cosmic dust analyzer examined some sodium salts found in ice grains of Saturn’s E ring but the link to subsurface salt water was not definitive. The new paper analyzes three Enceladus flybys in 2008 and 2009 with the same instrument, focusing on the composition of freshly ejected plume grains. In 2008, Cassini discovered a high “density of volatile gases, water vapor, carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide, as well as organic materials, some 20 times denser than expected” in geysers erupting from the moon. The icy particles hit the detector target at speeds between 15,000 and 39,000 MPH (23,000 and 63,000 KPH), vaporizing instantly. Electrical fields inside the cosmic dust analyzer separated the various constituents of the impact cloud.

“Enceladus has got warmth, water and organic chemicals, some of the essential building blocks needed for life,” said Dennis Matson in 2008, Cassini project scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California.

“This finding is a crucial new piece of evidence showing that environmental conditions favorable to the emergence of life can be sustained on icy bodies orbiting gas giant planets,” said Nicolas Altobelli, the European Space Agency’s project scientist for Cassini.

“If there is water in such an unexpected place, it leaves possibility for the rest of the universe,” said Postberg.

Suspect in model Jasmine Fiore’s murder found dead

Monday, August 24, 2009

Fugitive Ryan Jenkins was found dead in a motel room in Hope, Canada, about 150 kilometers from Vancouver. Police are still trying to determine how long he was at the Thunderbird Motel before he hanged himself.

The RCMP are now looking for an unidentified woman who helped Jenkins check himself into the motel last Thursday. She is described as an attractive blonde in her early 20’s and driving a tinted Chrysler PT Cruiser with Alberta plates.

Ryan Jenkins was wanted for the brutal murdering of his ex-wife, swimsuit model Jasmine Fiore. Her badly mutilated body was discovered in a dumpster southeast of Los Angeles on August 15th. Her teeth and fingers were removed, making identification difficult. She was identified through serial numbers on her breast implants.

Jenkins’s boat was found on Wednesday, south of Vancouver, not far from the US-Canada border. Police believe he drove from California to Blaine, Washington and then took a boat to Point Roberts, Washington where he crossed the border on foot into Tsawwassen, Canada. The RCMP confirmed early Sunday that Jenkins was somewhere in Canada and he should turn himself in. He was considered armed and dangerous.

Ryan Jenkins is from Calgary and moved to Los Angeles after appearing in a reality television show on the VH1 network, “Megan Wants a Millionaire“.

There were a couple of false sightings during the manhunt. One man was stopped on a flight from Toronto to Vancouver for using an alias. Another man was taken off a Vancouver transit bus because he looked similar and was interested in the news story.

U.S. Marshals were offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to his capture.

U.S. Congress passes CAFTA with 2 vote House margin

Thursday, July 28, 2005

The U.S. House of Representatives approved the Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA) early morning Thursday, with a narrow vote of 217 in favor, 215 against. Voting was held open for an hour, 45 minutes past the House’s 15-minute voting rule as the President along with other supporters lobbied into the night.

The vote was so close, if one House member changed a “Yea” vote to a “Nay” vote, CAFTA would have failed in a 216-216 tie.

In tallying the votes, 25 Republicans, mostly from Midwest Corn Belt and Rust Belt states and the Southeast United States’s textile industrial belt, broke party line to vote against the measure. Two Republicans were present, but refused to vote.

The Democrats presented a more united front. All but 15 Democrats present voted against the treaty. Independent House members, who usually vote with the Democrats also voted against the measure.

Supporters of the measure include President George W. Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, U.S. Trade Representative Rob Portman and Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez. Opponents included most House Democrats.

The trade agreement already passed the Senate in June. President Bush has said he will sign it into law.

DR-CAFTA encompasses the following components:

 • Services: all public services are to be open to private investment.
 • Investment: governments promise to grant ironclad guarantees to foreign investment.
 • Government procurement: All government purchases must be open to transnational bids.
 • Market access: governments pledge to reduce and eventually to eliminate tariffs and other measures that protect domestic products.
 • Agriculture: duty-free import and elimination of subsidies on agricultural products.
 • Intellectual property rights: privatization of and monopoly over technological know-how.
 • Antidumping rules, subsidies and countervailing rights: governments commit to phase out protectionist barriers in all sectors.
 • Competition policy: the dismantling of national monopolies.
 • Dispute resolution: the right of transnationals to sue countries in private international courts.
 • Environmental protection: the enforcement of environmental laws and improvement of the environment.
 • Labor standards: the enforcement of the International Labour Organization‘s core labor standards.
 • Transparency: the reduction of government corruption.
 • Test-Data Exclusivity for pharmaceutical corporations
