How Coaching Helps Multinational Ceo S Run Effective Board Meetings

How Coaching Helps Multinational CEO s Run Effective Board Meetings

by

Godonvan

In the present day business world, business leaders face more pressures than ever. And the dynamics of today s business world requires that multinational CEOs remain on top of their game in every stratum of their jobs so as to stay ahead of contemporaries and competitors. Ideally, modern business leaders have had to contend with rapidly changing markets, technologies and workforces, increased financial and legal scrutiny . . . and more. And inability to cope in this situation can lead them to making poor or no decisions which potentially, can result in significant loss of opportunities, human and financial resources. Realizing this, most CEOs now understand that their longevity and success may depend largely on a dynamic and productive partnership with a coach.

Board meetings are the strength of the present corporate world, and businesses cannot avoid them in any way. They are one of those things that take most of executives time because meetings are gatherings where sensitive decisions, action, policies and steps guiding direction of the company s business activities are formulated. Board meetings are attended by top executives from key sections of the company and whatever issues raised and agreed on are capable to make or mar the company s progress or stability.

Moreover, board meetings are meant to help people in organizations keep up with each other and give updates on projects and deadlines. The organization feels more secure when they get a chance to sit and discuss the status of certain projects with each other.

However, meetings can turn negative when they are not properly organized. No concrete decisions can be made when a meeting is long, unproductive and boring. For instance, meeting where teams gather with no clear agenda for discussion and nobody is there to facilitate the flow of the meeting or that which is way too long and where much time is wasted and little or no time is left to implement plans and strategies discussed. All this can have untold counterproductive effects on the business well-being.

And as far as board meeting is concerned, coaching guides CEOs towards actions that can be tailored towards realization of the meeting s primary objective of having resolutions that allows for making progress towards achieving the company s overall objectives. Interestingly, coaching also adapts the power of certain models and theories in tutoring the executive for board meetings. Example of such models is SMART approach which helps the CEO determine if the goals are specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time based.

Coaching provides guidance for pre- and post-meeting conducts towards making valuable contributions in the decision-making process before and during the meeting and how to take necessary post-meeting actions required for the implementation of the board resolutions.

Training and counseling received from an executive coach gives multinational CEOs insight into and understanding of the prerequisites for planning effective and productive meetings capable enough to get everyone involved ahead of time, create meeting goals that make sense to all participants present at the meeting and ultimately, proffer solutions to existing corporate challenges.

Having accreditation in whatever field of work is definitely a plus point in your career or business. For those into the world of coaching, you may check to

Triple limb-reattachment fails – boy loses foot

Tuesday, April 5, 2005Terry Vo, the 10-year old Australian boy who had two hands and a foot reattached by surgeons after losing them in an accident, has had to have the foot re-amputated. He will be given a prosthetic foot in its place.

The operation to re-attach three limbs was thought to have been a first – but was ultimately unsuccessful, with the foot having died inside, and receiving insufficient blood supply following the surgery to reattach it.

“That would lead to the small muscles in the foot actually constricting, the toes bending over and a deformed …. foot that is sort of clawed over and doesn’t have good sensation,” said plastic surgeon, Mr Robert Love today, on Australia’s ABC Radio.

“Even if you can get all of that to survive, he [would be] worse off than having had an amputation.”

“What is very disappointing is that for the first two days after [the operation] the foot looked absolutely magnificent,” he said.

Terry’s hands were healing well, said the surgeon. The prosthetic foot would allow him to walk normally, since his knee was intact.

British Gas announces a hike in energy bills of 14.2%

Saturday, September 10, 2005

One of Britain‘s largest domestic energy suppliers, British Gas, has announced that it is to raise the price of its gas and electricity prices by a record 14.2%. It blames the price rise on increasing wholesale gas prices, which have gone up by over 50% in the past year, the rising cost of oil & the increasing difficulty in getting gas from the North Sea, a major gas field for the United Kingdom.

250 000 people on low incomes will receive a one-off GBP 60 (USD 110.35 , EUR 88.93) rebate to alleviate this price rise.

This follows increases from other suppliers including Powergen and EDF Energy, with both having risen their prices by 7 to 12%. Energywatch, Britain’s consumer energy watchdog has said domestic gas and electric bills have gone up by 17 and 22% on average respectively in the last 18 months to August.

In 2004, British Gas increased its prices by 5.9% in January and 12.4% in September.

Across the water in Ireland, the Irish government approved a 25% increase on gas prices by the state owned monopoly, Bord Gais.

Food with cancer-causing dye recalled in Britain

Saturday, April 30, 2005

The British Food Standards Agency (FSA) has announced a recall of foods containing banned dyes which increase the risk of cancer. The food products were sold at the Tesco, Waitrose, and Somerfield supermarkets.

A Bristol company called “Barts Spices” found the illegal Para Red substance in their Barts Ground Paprika, which was sold in 48g and 46g jars with a “Co-op” label. The batch codes on the affected products are 5032 and 5089 (expiration Dec 2007), and 5075 (expiration February 2007).

Tesco also found that their 130g package of BBQ rice cakes (expiration November and December 2005) contained both Para Red and Sudan I.

“It would be very prudent to assume that it could be a genotoxic carcinogen,” FSA scientific advisers told reporters.

“As a company committed to supplying only the very finest quality food ingredients, we took the immediate decision to withdraw our ground paprika spice from all outlets selling the product and advertised a product recall in the national press,” a Barts Spices spokesman said in a statement.

Sudan I is only authorized for industrial use to colorize petroleum products, such as shoe polish. Para Red and Sudan I are banned under the British Colours in Food Regulations of 1995.

Britain last went through a major food recall in February, when Worcester Sauce was found to contain chili powder dyed with Sudan 1.

Vasculyse Effective Treatment For Spider Veins}

Vasculyse – Effective Treatment for Spider Veins

by

Dr. Dina Eliopoulos

Spider veins can deter from the skins healthy look and appearance. The occurrence of these veins cannot be controlled but fortunately, they can be treated by a proven method of treatment known as Vasculyse. Vasculyse is very popular because it is safe and effective for not only spider veins, but also other skin conditions such as cherry spots and skin tags. This treatment can be done on the face, arms and the legs which are the areas more prone to spider veins.

What Are Spider Veins?

Spider veins are red, blue or purple vein-like lines under the skin layer that many men and women suffer from. A series of small veins or capillaries break out from a center point and resemble a spider and often form a mesh-like appearance. Spider veins, also called telangiectasias, can occur due to increased pressure on these tiny blood vessels. They can be due to hormonal fluctuations during pregnancy and menstruation, or develop from skin trauma, sun damage and the natural aging process. Conditions such as rosacea can also contribute to their occurrence. Spider veins on the face are most common around the nose and cheeks. Spider veins on the legs can commonly develop over time, and can be exacerbated by sitting or standing for long periods of time or from weight gain.

Vasculyse Treatment

During a Vasculyse treatment, very low levels of electric current are applied with a micro needle to the tiny veins or capillaries on the skin surface. This causes the distended capillaries to coagulate. The collapsed capillaries no longer fill with blood and are then absorbed by the body. In time there is regeneration of new capillaries that are healthy. This greatly improves the appearance of the skin and the spider veins disappear. The process is quick and causes absolutely no pain. Treatment involves one to three sessions depending on the severity. Immediately after treatment, there is minimal skin reaction, which disappears within no time. There is no recovery time involved and the treatment can be done as a lunchtime procedure.

Vasculyse is a highly effective, safe, non-invasive treatment for spider veins with virtually no side effects. The spider veins are visibly reduced after treatment and the skin looks clear and healthy. The result of Vasculyse treatment is amazing and long lasting, leaving a healthy, clear skin.

AIDS ‘super bug’ diagnosed in New York

Saturday, February 12, 2005

New York — A drug-resistant and quick-acting form of HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, has been detected in New York City, according to officials.

Although diagnosed in only one man so far, this mutated version of the virus progresses to AIDS faster than other forms of HIV, officials said. Diagnosed with HIV in mid-October, the unnamed New York City man developed the full-blown form AIDS by mid-January. Normally HIV infection can take up to 10 years to develop into AIDS.

Dr. Ronald O. Valdiserri, the director of HIV/AIDS prevention at the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), told the New York Times this new strain of virus is unique because of the rapid progression of the disease and its resistance to multiple AIDS drug regimens. Although the New York case appears to be isolated at this time, the CDC has sent a nation-wide alert to health departments in every state.

“It appears this individual has contracted a new, particularly virulent strain of HIV that swiftly advanced to AIDS in just a few short months,” Charles Farthing, MD, AIDS Healthcare Foundation’s Chief of Medicine said in a press release. “Unfortunately, it also seems that few of the AIDS treatments currently available today can be used in his case, as this particular strain of infection appears to be resistant to most known AIDS drugs.”

Dr. Thomas R. Frieden, commissioner of the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, urged all newly-diagnosed HIV patients to get tested to see if they have this new form of the virus. He also said all sexually active people should be tested for the HI virus.

New York health officials said they estimate that about 88,000 New Yorkers have HIV infection or AIDS and that an additional 20,000 are infected but unaware of their condition.

Woman killed in house fire in South Yorkshire, England

Monday, January 25, 2010

An elderly woman has died in a house fire in South Yorkshire, England. The woman, who is currently remaining unidentified, was blind and 93-years-old when her bungalow in Sheffield caught fire as a result of an accident in her kitchen yesterday afternoon.

An internal investigation into the fire has suggested that while the woman was cooking, she dropped a towel onto one of the stovetops while attempting to move a pan on the cooker. The towel then set alight. When she attempted to put out the fire, the towel dropped to the side of the cooker, alongside some plastic bags.

A smoke alarm sounded; a nearby resident heard the alarm and went to assist. The neighbour managed to break into the bedroom window of the bungalow in order to be able to get inside the building. The person made it to the hallway but had to double back upon seeing the fire and the smoke. It is believed that the woman was overwhelmed by the fumes given out from the plastic which was burning.

At around 1350 GMT, fire service workers entered the elderly lady’s residence to find her collapsed inside the kitchen. People investigating the incident have come to the conclusion that this particular fire was an accidental one. A spokesperson for the South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service noted: “Neighbours who tried to enter the property were fought back by smoke and flames.”

This weekend saw the opening of two new exhibitions at Edinburgh’s National Gallery of Modern Art. Wikinews attended Thursday’s press preview for the event where a full contingent of the capital’s press turned out to see the striking collection of paintings, photographs, and other works. Presented below are a selection of images captured at the preview.

REFLECTIONS: A Series of Changing Displays of Contemporary Art, billed as a showcase of a “diverse range of internationally-renowned contemporary and modern artists” is to display major works from the Gallery’s permanent collection, alongside important loans. Alongside this broad range of works, a three-room display of pieces on-loan from the Roy Lichtenstein Foundation — with a dramatic painted steel relief, ‘borrowed’ from the Tate in London — runs from March 14 through to January 10 next year.

Admission to both exhibitions is free; being located in Dean, to the north-west of Edinburgh’s city centre, a free Gallery bus service is available.
